[*]We the Living, Ayn Rand. A semi-autobiographical novel about a woman's escape from the mental control and physical captivity of the Soviet Union
[*]The Architecture of Happiness, Alain de Botton A presumably thoughtful book about the way physical space can make us feel
[*]Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton. A presumably thoughtful book about how we are driven to worry and consumption in an effort to protect our perception of status among our peers/neighbors

ReplyDeleteI KNOW RIGHT??!! I'm just as shocked as you are :) But I figured why not, because it was free and I could take a couple hours to read some fiction that everyone and their brother seems to have already read.
DeleteIt *was* going to be zero this week [looks shocked] but I needed to shop for clothes for an upcoming wedding. So... There happened to be a bookshop nearby.....

DeleteI was shocked to see fiction as well. Glad you enjoyed that one. I never read the book because I wasn't that impressed with the movie. Hope you like it if you decide to watch it.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not the only one!! It was actually a really decent thriller and I am glad I picked it up. One of the things I really liked was the unreliable narrator. What a trip that was!
