Stacking the Shelves #28

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc. Never has my addiction been more obvious than when I am now keeping track of every single book I acquire.

I know, I know, FICTION. But seriously, I could not pass up that one for free! I read it within hours of acquiring it on Thursday. The review is HERE. I must say, it is one of my best reviews ever 🤣🤣🤣

What did you add to your stash this week?

Happy Reading!

  3. I bought three books in the last week:
[*]We the Living, Ayn Rand. A semi-autobiographical novel about a woman's escape from the mental control and physical captivity of the Soviet Union
[*]The Architecture of Happiness, Alain de Botton A presumably thoughtful book about the way physical space can make us feel
[*]Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton. A presumably thoughtful book about how we are driven to worry and consumption in an effort to protect our perception of status among our peers/neighbors

    1. I KNOW RIGHT??!! I'm just as shocked as you are :) But I figured why not, because it was free and I could take a couple hours to read some fiction that everyone and their brother seems to have already read.

  5. It *was* going to be zero this week [looks shocked] but I needed to shop for clothes for an upcoming wedding. So... There happened to be a bookshop nearby.....

    Fiction:

    Nucleus by Rory Clements
    Lightning Men by Tomas Mullen

    Non-Fiction:

First Lady - The Life and Wars of Clementine Churchill by Sonia Purnell
The Darkening Age - The Christian Destruction of the Classical World by Catherine Nixey

  7. I was shocked to see fiction as well. Glad you enjoyed that one. I never read the book because I wasn't that impressed with the movie. Hope you like it if you decide to watch it.

    1. You are definitely not the only one!! It was actually a really decent thriller and I am glad I picked it up. One of the things I really liked was the unreliable narrator. What a trip that was!

    1. I thought so too! I grabbed it because it is definitely far outside of the time periods I usually read about, as well as the location. But the event intrigues me and I had to know what happened. Happy Reading!
