Why did I add The Last Days of the Incas to my TBR?
Because there was a whole world here long before Europe decided to come play and that world, those cultures, are worth knowing about.

I have actually read several books about the Inca empire and its fall, although I can't really recall if that was one of the titles. It is a fascinating and ultimately tragic story.

DeleteI'd like to read this. I've watched many documentaries about the Incas and always found their rise and fall fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI am more and more interested these days in the varying cultures, the Incas, Aztecs, Mayans, Olmecs, Tolecs, and so on. Sometimes whole societies completely obliterated, so much knowledge lost. It's terrible.

DeleteI'm super interested by the people/cultures that existed before the Europeans landed! I had friends visit machu picchu last year and some of the stories they came back with were awesome. Need to learn more for myself! :)
ReplyDeleteMachu Picchu is soooo on my bucket list. I can't even imagine how breathtaking it must be to just BE there. There was so much here before the Europeans, and so much lost.
DeleteI had an Inca period in my reading. A fascinating culture. My book from the backlog this week is a reread: The Confusion by Neal Stephenson, #2 in his Baroque Cycle trilogy. He is a favorite author of mine but his books are sooo long and I got behind. The trilogy is set in the 1600s and is of the swashbuckling style.
