I am featuring books in the order that they were added to my Goodreads To-Read shelf, so sometimes there will be a couple weeks in a row of books on the same topic.
Neglected Book of the Week
Why did I add Thomas Andrews: Shipbuilder to my TBR?
Because MY HEART WILL GO ON!
Have you read this book, or is it somewhere on your TBR? If you've read it, would you recommend it to others?
Happy Reading!
Sarah
Sounds like an interesting read. Thanks for sharing. Here's mine: ”MRS.”
ReplyDeleteI think it will be, I just hope I an still find it somewhere!
Delete"Because MY HEART WILL GO ON!" That made me laugh. I hope you like it when you read it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bea! The 15 year old in me is forever longing to be free to proclaim her undying love for the movie and song. She is hard to control sometimes, lol.
DeleteIt took me a few seconds, but then I got it. Yes, I do love Titanic lore books. Hope this bio is a good one for you.
ReplyDeleteI have read some really fantastic ones over the years. It is kind of surprising when you think about it, because what new things could we possibly say or discover? But I think it is still an important story to tell. The men, women, and children who perished deserve to be remembered.
DeleteThis book is new to me and I really know nothing about this man except for the fact that his ship sank. I love your reasons for adding this one :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! The fifteen year old in me will never stop shouting her love for the movie, the music, the story, everything. I can't imagine what he was thinking and feeling when he realized she would sink. All that hard work, all that planning, knowing he had been over-ridden in terms of how many lifeboats she carried; it must have been such an awful final three hours of his life.
DeleteMy book from the backlog is Anathem by Neal Stephenson. It has been on my shelf since 2008, the year it was published. I have a signed ARC which I got at Book Expo America the year it was held in LA and Neal signed it right in front of me! I got a lot for free that day! I have been reading it all week and loving it, kicking myself for waiting so long to read it.
ReplyDeleteDaaaaaang, that's a long time! Although now that I think about it, my earliest books on goodreads are from 2012 and 2013 so yeah, some of mine are that old too. Except most I do not owned and were not signed right in front of me :P Glad you are enjoying it now!
DeleteI bet this would be interesting, especially given his tie to the Titanic and Britannic, both ships which were ill-fated. Of course, he wasn't around to see how the Britannic went down.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly why I want to read it, because he built Titanic.
