My TBR has been out of control for YEARS. Then in January of 2019 I started tracking weekly my true reading/acquiring habits, and voila! I have been able to keep on top of things a little bit better. I may never get below 1,000 books, but at least I won't be topping out over 5,000! When a book cover is linked, it goes to the review here on my blog.
I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!
Warning: I went on a NetGalley bender and the numbers are terrible.

I've been watching that Al Roker book on this list for several weeks now. Glad to see you read it, and I'm excited to see what you thought of it.
ReplyDeleteI am kind of torn. The research was great and extensive, but it almost became too much. We get the whole backstory of Andrew Carnegie, which was not entirely necessary. His involvement in steel and with the Cambria Company, and Johnstown was important, but the early-life stuff was not relevant. But it also could be my opinion only, as I know quite a bit about Carnegie already. Parts of the book were really great and parts were meh.
DeleteEasy come easy go! :) You have some pretty good looking books though looks like. The Year 1000 jumps out at me. I've been thinking about that kind of thing a lot lately- other turns of milleniums and whatnot, pivotal moments in history, PLAGUES (ahem), etc. Valkyries too...
ReplyDeleteDon't they look great?? And this was only one category - history. Just think what I could have found if I searched general non-fiction...
DeleteHave you Read The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey? Excellent book about the subject.
I have not! Adding it to the list...
DeleteI was just looking at the Valkyrie book over on Amazon.
It was a great read, and not even too terribly long of a book. I really liked it.
DeleteThe Viking women one looks interesting... Gotta love those Vikings!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I do love them quite a lot!
DeleteSome of these look really great - the Valkyrie, the Year 1000, the Brothers York (very interesting),Anna Komnene...now I have an even longer TBR!! I am also interested in Imagining Anne, a good comfort read I assume. Speaking of comfort reads, which is what I am into for now, I am reading The Spy by James Fenimore Cooper (Revolutionary Era story, you would like it); then - Prague in Black and Gold, The Wind in the Willows, and maybe The House of Seven Gables. Then...maybe I will start with the Brothers York or Valkyrie...
ReplyDelete- Donna
Sounds like you have a great plan! I was so excited for the Imagining Anne one, but it is a PDF only and I can't put it on my Kindle so that was a bummer. But I am still looking forward to reading it. Enjoy your reading!
DeleteMwuahahahahaa! ;)

YOU ARE THE BEST KIND OF BAD INFLUENCE! lol
DeleteOoh, Mesopotamia. :)
ReplyDeleteRight! But it is one I have to read on my laptop because it is a PDF only and not able to send to my Kindle. I hate when that happens. Luckily the content will keep me interested for sure!
DeleteI didn't know that Al Roker wrote a book! I think that adding a few books to the tbr in the middle of a pandemic is necessary!
ReplyDeleteYes! And actually another one called Storm of the Century about the Galveston Hurricane in 1900. I think he might actually have a series too but I am not sure, I thought i remember hearing something about him writing a fiction series.
DeleteI agree...but my NetGalley ratio is NOT happy with me, lol. I was at 96%. Now I think I am at 85% and there are six more to be approved or denied.
