Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

That’s a tough lineup, I hope you find them satisfying
ReplyDeleteThank you! So far all have been very worthwhile reads!
DeleteThree in this week. The first two were obtained from my library by curbside pickup!
ReplyDeleteShadow of a Bull by Maia Wojciechowska-winner of the Newbery Award in 1965.
May I Bring a Friend by Beatrice Schenk de Regniers-winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1965.
Seed to Harvest by Octavia Butler, a compilation of her first series.
Hooray! I am so glad you are doing curbside now! Our libraries are set to open on September 21st. I really hope they still continue curbside though. I don't feel comfortable taking Eleanor yet, but curbside is perfect for us.
DeleteI’m going to check out the Lynching, I recently rewatched Black KKKlansman and it just horrifies me what the Klan is capable off.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I can't fathom that kind of hate and depravity. I have not seen Black KKKlansman but I have read Stallworth's book. Give it a read if you have not yet!
DeleteA good week for me this week - Mall visit!
ReplyDeleteFiction:
A Silent Death by Peter May
Agent Running in the Field bu John Le Carre
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
Black Sun by Owen Matthews
The Warehouse by Rob Hart
Non-Fiction:
Undercover Agent by Mark Seaman
First to Fight - The Polish War 1939 by Roger Moorhouse
The Anarchy - The Relentless Rise of the East India Company by William Dalrymple
Well thank goodness you took it a bit easier this week!
DeleteThe End of White Christian America. I have some relatives who would lose their MIND over that one, probably. I'm curious about it. Demographic change can be frightening to people, I get it, but man the turmoil we're going through smh.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to get to it as well. So many still ahead of it though! White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity by the same author was on my list last week; an excellent read.
DeleteThese all sound like worthwhile reads--very timely. I forgot to check out the Amazon First Reads. I need to do that for this month. The End of White Christian America jumped out at me from your library books, although, as I said, they all sound like must reads. As Greg commented, I imagine some of my relatives would not be too happy about that one. I hope you enjoy all of these! Have a great weekend and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! So far all have been quite worthwhile indeed. The same author of Christian America has another book I read recently called White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity that was excellent.
DeleteThat's a very serious reading lineup you have. Mitch Landrieu's book in particular sounds interesting to me. This week I added Summer by Ali Smith which I read immediately upon receiving and Vesper Flights by Helen Macdonald which I am now enjoying. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway through his book, it is really good so far. If you read it, we can chat about it!
Deletewhoa...i am not up to reading anything like these, but i do appreciate you sharing them
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Thank you Sherry - they're especially heavy and I probably should space them out a bit better so they're not all crushing my soul at once. Even so, it is a distant and not-so-distant history we have to face, so here I go!
