Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.
Happy Reading!
Sarah
I've added 'The Fighting Bunch' to my Wish List - but I did think to begin with that it was about the Greek Civil War after WW2!
ReplyDeleteOnly one non-fiction for me this week:
The Blessings of a Good Thick Skirt - Women Travellers and Their World by Mary Russell
I also thought it had to do with Greece during/after WWII and that is why I was going to decline the offer. I'm glad I looked at it more closely and found a synopsis. I think it will be very interesting.
DeleteI would like to know your thoughts on your new treasure, once you've finished it!
The Fighting Bunch looks interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteI got 4 books in this week:
From my Archipelago subscription, both translated from other languages.
Ifugu by Scholastique Mukasonga, about Rwandan genocide
The Distance by Ivan Vladislavic, about apartheid
From the library via curbside pickup
The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, about Vietnam war and Vietnamese immigrants to the US
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden, final book in her trilogy about 14th century Moscow
I was ready to decline it because I thought it was about Greece during/after WWII, and I am all militaried-out. I am glad I looked into it more closely.
DeleteAre your Archipelago books nonfiction or fiction?
Translated novels and story collections. No nonfiction so far anyway except a memoir.
DeleteAh, bummer! I am interested in learning more about Rwanda and was hoping it was non-fiction.
DeleteBoth look good. Between Two Kingdoms- I'll have to see what that's all about.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturdy!!!
I've started it and am struggling with the author's writing/voice a little, but I do think I will finish it. I would love to just drop everything and move to another place with Eleanor!
DeleteI'm currently reading one of the books I added this week, What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez because I just couldn't wait. I'm glad I didn't. It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the best feeling??
DeleteHope you enjoy reading both!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
