First Line Friday is hosted once again by Carrie at Reading is my Superpower. You can visit HERE to go directly to the FLF page of her blog.
Playing along is easy: open the book nearest you and share the first line. Then check out the link to see the other first lines posted this week.
"Feel like a woman, wear a dress!" the ads read.
Leave a comment and let me know what you think, and leave a link to your FLF so I can stop by to see what you've posted this week.
Happy Reading!
Sarah
I'm wondering where the book is going from that opening. I guess that makes it effective.
ReplyDeleteDone it's job then, yeah?
DeleteThat line just reminds me of how seldom I wear a dress anymore!
ReplyDeleteI hate dresses, unless they have pockets!
DeleteHa love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting so far, that's for sure!
DeleteMy first line this week is from The Bride of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep:
ReplyDeleteLondon 1885
September afternoons were meant for soft whispers and stolen kisses, not ash and soot and the gangrenous eye of a ruthless taskmaster.
Thank you for sharing your line!
DeleteInteresting start. I am sharing from Never Leave Me by Jody Hedlund.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
DeleteYou always read the most interesting books!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Sit, Stay, Love by Dana Mentink. It's super cute!
"Gina was surprised at the size of the ranch."
Have a great weekend! 😀
Thanks Nicole...It's been a good book month for me - maybe even year. Lots of great reads that I love shouting about online. Happy reading!
Delete"Some years, like some poets and politicians and some lovely women, are singled out for fame far beyond the common lot, and 1929 was clearly such a year." The Great Crash 1929 by John Kenneth Galbraith
ReplyDeleteYikes. But true.
DeleteSounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading another book by Karen Witemeyer: Full Steam Ahead. The first line is: "Passengers jockeyed for position along the steamboat Louisiana's railings, waving and calling merry farewells to the crowd lining the levee."
Have a great holiday weekend!
Thanks for coming by, hope your holiday weekend was relaxing and you got to enjoy a good book or two!
DeleteThat line reminds me of my grandmother and how she rebelled against always having to wear dresses or skirts to school. I miss her.
ReplyDeleteI like her already - rebelling against skirts and dresses sounds like my kind of lady! <3
DeleteInteresting. I'd like to read this book. I feel feminine when I wear dresses, and they're easy outfits. Just throw one on and you don't have to worry about matching your top to your bottom!
ReplyDeleteThat is true but I absolutely hate them. If they have pockets, I am marginally more likely to wear them. But only if they also look like they could just be a long shirt, under which I can wear leggings.
