2024 Reading Goals

Okay so here we go again. Much like previous years, I am not going to hold myself to these too strictly because if reading/blogging ever becomes a thing I feel like I HAVE to do, then it is not fun anymore.

1. Read 250 Books | I did this quite comfortably in 2022, and less so in 2023. I think it is best to keep the goal there, though I have read far more in previous, and far less as well.

2. NetGalley Ratio | I am at a dismal 77% right now. My highest was 96%. The goal is to get back to at least 90% by the end of the year. This is doable, though it will be a bit of a slog if I don't get some shelf-control and stop requesting every history book I come across. It also means having to actually sit myself down and writing some darn reviews again.

3. Read More from TBR | Uuuuuggggghhhhhh. I have had a really terrible habit these last two years of reading books not on my TBR. I have to get back to this more in 2024. There are so many fantastic titles languishing in this purgatory of having gained my attention once, then being completely forgotten once again. It would help if CK didn't bombard me weekly with new trasures :P

4. Get TBR Below 2,000 | This seems like it should be combined with #3, I know. But goal #3 has to do with reading books directly from the TBR. Goal #4 has to do with that, but also with discarding books I am no longer interested in reading. I used to go through the list regularly and cull it but I have not done so in a few months. That will be a piece of this goal for 2024.

5. Prep Posts Again | I used to be really good at getting up to two months' worth of memes/features ready at a time - Top Ten Tuesday, Books From The Backlog, and First Line Friday. I am going to work on doing this again, so I am consistent with something in addition to Tackling the TBR and Stacking the Shelves.

There you have it. Do you have any goals for yourself this year? I'd love to hear about them!

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. Ok... As to my influence on your TBR issues I think you have 3 options:

    1) I'll stop letting you know my purchases
    2) I'll *try* to only buy books I think you won't be interested in
    3) You wear your Big Girl pants 24/7 and suck it up buttercup..... [lol]

Or I could just apologise every time I post here - not that that would help you much... [grin]

Notice that I didn't say that I could reduce my book buying... Because:

    a) That would be silly
    b) You'd never believe me
    c) It's impossible

    Happy New Year!!

    1. lol, you might as well not apologize ever because we both know you're not sorry. I do like to "complain" but you've brought so many great books to my attention, that you know I'm not serious. 2024 is going to be another interesting year, I have a feeling.

    2. Ditto on bringing books to my attention! Not that I'm 'complaining' either. [grin] I think that we both accept the idea that we'll die with books unread & leave a large TBR list (both physical and theoretical) behind us. Sure, it sucks... but hey, what can you do, right? 2024 will *definitely* be interesting. Should be some great books mixed in there too. I'm looking forward (as always) to what you'll turn up.

    3. This is true, there are so many books not even written yet that I will want to read. BUT, when I was talking to my pastor about random things and brought up all the unread books I still have, he looked at me like I was a dummy and asked me what I thought Heaven would look like for me. He knows me so well!

I am really going to get back to a lot more non-fiction this year. I miss it so much. Can't wait to see what you've got coming up!

    5. Yep, so that is a comfort. Otherwise my ADHD-brain would get overwhelmed with all the books and then read nothing ever
