First Line Friday is a weekly feature and simple to do - grab the book nearest you and post the first line. Carrie hosts this over on her blog Reading is my Superpower.
"I've never heard of Augustus Horatio MacJudd."
Eleanor and I absolutely love this series. Set in England (of course), the series follows the adventures of Myrtle Hardcastle and her governess Miss Judson. Despite society's attempts to make Myrtle be a "proper young lady", she is fascinated by murder, as is any sensible young pre-teen. Such a fun, intelligent series and we love seeing what they get up to with each new book.
Happy Reading!

This does sound like a fun series. And I do like that beginning.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a fun series. Very clever. If you like it, I would also recommend the Aggie Morton series, which is an imagining of Agatha Christie's life as a child. She and her friend from Belium, Hector, have fantastic adventures, and it's a four-book series that has already concluded.
Delete"From the moment it began, the liberation of Paris was an almost mythical affair."
ReplyDelete'The Blood of Free Men - The Liberation of Paris, 1944' by Michael Neiberg.
Wonderful, another potential book for my sub-TBR :P
DeleteI like the sound of that book.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

DeleteHappy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI’m currently reading Sadie and the Bad Boy Billionaire by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. It’s super cute!
“I don’t want to be impressed with Benedict’s boat. Yacht. I don’t want to be impressed with his yacht. But honestly, this thing is gorgeous.”
I hope you have a great weekend full of fun reading time! 😊
Thanks for coming by, happy reading!
DeleteThis is such a great series! I need to get back to it. I have read the first two and had a great time with them.
ReplyDeleteYes! we love it! Since you like Myrtle, I would also recommend Enola Holmes, and also Aggie Morton. Enola is written as Sherlock's younger sister and there were originally only six books and the series wrapped up so well. But then Netflix started making Enola movies (which are also fantastic except for the love-story aspect) and the author has published three more books. The Aggie series is an imagining of Agatha Christie's childhood and the adventures she has with her Belgian friend Hector. It's only four books, which bummed us out, but a wonderful series.
