Happy 4th, Sarah......... You'd have been better off with us but it might have gone the other way & we'd have had to put up with some of your Presidents so.... [lol]
Not sure. I know she was in Kenya when she became Queen but I guess it took a while to get everyone available to be there for the Coronation. The actual crowning is, I think, pretty much a formality. She was Queen the moment the King, her father, died. As far as I understand it, some Coronations happen quite quickly (or with unseemly haste!) whilst others can take months or longer. It isn't something I've given much thought to being a Republican (in the good sense) rather than a Monarchist.
Oh that's right, I remember now that she was not in England when he died. True it is a formality, but I love coronations all the same. I wish someone would write a book about all of them. Hmmm. Maybe I should write a book on coronations through the centuries. Like, the actual event for each king or queen itself. I am now having all kinds of ideas. Crap, now I will be even more distracted from getting reviews queued up today lol
I love this one! The treasonous banter memes around the 4th July always make me giggle... Although, I often wonder how they're received on your side of the pond. It's great to see that some appreciate them! :)
LOL that meme is too funny!
ReplyDeleteThe look on her face is priceless.

ReplyDeleteBecame Queen in 1952 on the death of her father George VI, but her Coronation was in June 1953.
DeleteMP - I have the coronation video many times!
DeleteCK - why the gap from when he passed to her actual coronation?
