Stacking the Shelves #157

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

Happy Reading!

  2. Only one? Well, at least it was a GOOD one.... [lol]

5 for me this week (mostly non-fiction) with 2 more in the post. I'm *trying* to cut back but there are *SO* many books out there just begging for a good home environment...... [grin]

    Fiction:

    Troy by Stephen Fry

    Non-Fiction:

How Language Works by David Crystal
Lancaster - The Forging of a Very British Legend by John Nichol
The White Ship - Conquest, Anarchy and the Wrecking of Henry I's Dream by Charles Spencer
Britain At Bay - The Epic Story of the Second World War: 1938-1941 by Alan Allport

    1. RIGHT?! What a complete WASTE of time.

Lucky you, White Ship is already on my TBR. I am interested in the language book but will await your opinion first. Linguistic books are so hit or miss for me.

    2. I've read 'Crystal' before and he was interesting. I skimmed a bit of my recent purchase and it seems very readable.

Oh, and I've just this minute posted another ancestry 'Looking Backwards' thing which should amuse/interest you! It's so weird sometimes what you find out about people you didn't even know existed just a few months ago... [grin]

    3. I have missed those posts so much and am hoping to get back to all of them now that things will be marginally less crazy. I may give Crystal a try, if you can vouch for him that it won't be a total snoozefest.
