My TBR has been out of control for YEARS. Then in January of 2019 I started tracking weekly my true reading/acquiring habits, and voila! I have been able to keep on top of things a little bit better. I may never get below 1,000 books, but at least I won't be topping out over 5,000! When a book cover is linked, it goes to the review here on my blog.
I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!
If you read these posts often, you will recall that it's usually just a boring list of numbers. I am trying to make it more interactive and show off what I am reading and potential treasures I am finding.
+++++++++++++++
Previous Week's TBR Total: 3,115
Currently Reading: 14
Books Added to TBR: 8
Books Removed from TBR: 9
Books Read: 3
Books DNF-ed: 1
Duplicates Removed: 0
New TBR Total: 3,110
Any of these catch your eye? Have you already read any? Let me know!
Happy Reading!
Ooh Lewis. And A very Stable Genius looks like such a train wreck read lol.
ReplyDeleteIt is written by actual journalists, and Pulitzer Prize winning ones at that, so it is much better and more thoroughly sourced than the nonsense we've seen before. I found it wholly depressing though, because all of these people are speaking up only after they've left or been kicked out of the "administration". Real courage would be taking things on from the inside.
DeleteI feel the same way. It's so disheartening to see so- called people of integrity afraid to speak out - it really makes you wonder what it takes for someone to have courage anymore. Even supposed "straight shooters" like Kelly or Mattis sit on their hands. Disgusting.
DeleteThe book would piss you off too then, I think. I think it is probably the best of all the books written so far, and we get a lot more detail of the inner-workings, but it is also stuff we already knew happened. Having those additional details helps a lot - if only to paint a clearer pictures of just how fucked up it all is.
DeleteI haven't heard of these! I also couldn't do this feature, since I'm ALWAYS adding books. I can't read them fast enough to balance things out. ;)

It is definitely hard, there are some weeks I add ore than I read or remove. But, I am making progress and I think I can get below 2,000 by the end of the year. I read/removed/DNF-ed over 1,000 in 2019. Here is the 2019 wrap-up if you are interested in the numbers! https://allthebookblognamesaretaken.blogspot.com/2019/12/tackling-tbr-year-in-review-2019.html
Deletetackling the tbr and books from the backlog on another blog, are the motivating factors for cleaning up my tbr. i am currently gathering all the facts and will be sharing a post soon. thanks for the motivation and keep up the great work

Oh good, I am glad I can be motivating for you!! I might add a linky widget if you are going to share your own data, and maybe that will encourage others as well!
DeleteI am also grateful for Carole and Books From the Backlog - these two together are really helping me get this TBR under control.
You are making progress while still adding new books. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that Books from the Backlog is helping you, Sarah, and Sherry! I need to find a way to start reading all the books that I feature myself :)
Yes! You have been SO MUCH help! Although that is my problem too...some of the books I feature on Backlog, I don't have physical copies yet! But I want to feature them from the beginning of my time on Goodreads, and remind myself why I added them so many years ago to begin with!
