Tackling the TBR Week 17: May 1 - May 7, 2020

My TBR has been out of control for YEARS. Then in January of 2019 I started tracking weekly my true reading/acquiring habits, and voila! I have been able to keep on top of things a little bit better. I may never get below 1,000 books, but at least I won't be topping out over 5,000! When a book cover is linked, it goes to the review here on my blog.

I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!

I know it looks totally insane at the number of books I am reading right now, but I have hit a serious slump. I literally have hundreds of books and don't want to read a single one.

Strange as it sounds, I think it is partly because I am NOT stressed about work. Reading is what I do when I am stressing out, and I was perpetually stressed for the previous three years prior to the 2019-2020 school year. For two of those years the school I was at was an incredibly toxic environment with someone on the admin team who was vindictive, and revenge-seeking towards others. Then last year I was so stressed from the fall-out of the previous two years, even with a new admin team. This year though, I am in a new position at a new school, and I am happier than I have been in my career in a long time. It feels great.

So...that means I take fewer trips to medieval England (among other places) to de-stress, I suppose?

I have seen quite a few bloggers address the issue of not reading as much, despite being home more. I am reading tons with Eleanor, but hardly anything for myself after she goes to sleep. So, hopefully by throwing all my NetGalley ARCs onto my 'Currently' Reading' list, that will kick-start something in my brain. Obviously I requested these books for a reason, so I better get to it!

Any of these catch your eye? Have you already read any? Let me know!

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. pardon but you need to relax: the satisfactory life is the one that's lived one thing at a time... as my grandpa used to say: cool, calm and collected... nothing except Eleanor is worth being in a frazzle...

    1. I am relaxed, that's the problem! :) When my job was so stressful, I read constantly after Eleanor went to bed. Now as I find myself in a much better place physically at a new school and mentally by not being stressed all the time, I don't read nearly as much. I used to have to read at least an hour a day or I got jittery. It was crazy. Now I am not jittery, but there are still so many lovely books waiting for me!
