I am toying with the idea of moderated comments. About two weeks ago I attempted a first test run. I had three friends give it a try both with moderated comments and un-moderated. Only one showed up as a comment awaiting moderation. The two whose comments never showed up either time were both trying from their phones. I have no idea if that was the issue, but it is the only commonality right now.
So, I am hoping it was some kind of glitch from the new Blogger that is being rolled out and want to try again. If you would be so kind, please attempt to comment with a topic or genre that is your LEAST fave to read about.
Thanks, darlings!
Sarah
Horror's my least favourite because it's usually too gory for me!
ReplyDelete(I'm commenting from a Kindle Fire tablet)
Agreed! I like thriller/mystery/crime-ish stuff, but no horror - except Stephen King and John Saul, who are insanely masterful in their writing of horror. The Shining remains one of my fave books of all time. Thanks for also letting me know what device you are using!
DeleteHow come you're thinking of the moderated comment route? I've never had any great issues with posts - except for a handful of spam - and have always thought moderation to be an inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteI have Captcha on and in the last three days have been repeatedly getting the same spam over and over. It is usually from 'Unknown' but there was a name with one of the comments and it is lame. But it is still happening even with the moderation, so I know for sure it is a person and not a bot - which I already kind of figured based on the Captcha already being used.
DeleteLeast favorite...mmm, either political screeds or novels with too much romance in them.
ReplyDeleteSame, no romance for me please and thank you!
DeleteI tried creating a post with the new blogger yesterday. What a mess! It is user hostile for me so far. Thankfully they still have the old one which I went back to.
ReplyDeleteIt is trash, I hate it! It is especially hard to make sure I have all the posts open that have new comments on them, because now it does not list the whole title of the post next to a person's comment. This makes it hard for me to figure out which posts I need to respond to when the title is 'NetGalley ARC" because the title is long enough that there is no room to show the actual title of the ARC. Grrrrr.
DeleteNormally I would say my least favorite genre is romance, but I just read one that I absolutely loved, so what the hell do I know haha.
ReplyDeleteOh geez, isn't that funny when stuff like that happens?? I can not stand romance, I don't have time for that nonsense if it is the only plot!
Deletewhat does moderating comments mean? i'm terminally ignorant about computers, so bear with me... mrs. m helps a lot but neither one of us is very competent... haha
ReplyDeleteIt means that whenever you leave a comment, it will no longer post immediately to the page. I have to review all comments before publishing them. Your comment will no longer show up after you submit it, but it is there just waiting for me to approve it. And no worries about not knowing so much about computers, I am the generation that grew up learning with them and I still don't know what I am doing half the time!
DeleteLet's see... least fave genre? Maybe horror, even though I DO like a good scare now and then.
ReplyDeleteI don't like gore/horror either...except I love Stephen King and John Saul. So I guess I only like the VERY BEST horror writers? I don't know, I am a contradiction, lol
Deletei thought i already left a comment... guess not, anyway i'd go to (yuk) the dentist before i'd read about computers...
ReplyDeleteYou did, no worries! Because I am now moderating the comments, they will not show up immediately after you submit them. They have to be approved by me. I am basically doing this because someone is spamming my blog big time right now and none of you need to deal with that annoying nonsense.
DeleteI love adult pnr and uf but avoid YA
ReplyDeleteI have never read anything from either of your favorite genres - if you could recommend one book for each, what would they be? I have found myself enjoying more and more very select YA recently. Mainly anything written by Karen McManus.
DeleteMy least favorite would be erotic romance. I need the story more than the sex.
ReplyDeleteI have no interest in either genre, and especially not together! I would agree though, a story only about sex would not really be much of a story at all.
