Hey everyone, this is just a quick little update and a refresher on the guidelines - or an introduction to the guidelines for those who are just recently finding this meme and want to participate.
I have taken this directly from Evelina's page dedicated to the meme, with her permission of course - and altered bits and pieces. Evelina is the creator and owner, I am temporarily hosting because I love it and missed it while she was on hiatus. Plus, I am getting myself into trouble with NetGalley again and need to hold myself accountable for the fact that just because I CAN be approved for 100 ARCs during quarantine, doesn't mean I ACTUALLY NEED TO BE.
I am mainly reposting this because there has been some confusion and people thinking she is hosting once again. It has not helped that I have been sending people to her blog to find out what the meme is all about, but then posting the actual monthly write-ups here. So, until further notice, I will have a tab created HERE on my blog so if you participate and someone you know wants more info, you can direct them here instead of sending them back and forth between Evelina and I. Again, I am only the temp host, this is totally her baby; I just want to help out a blogger who I admire and who helped me so much.
Now, onto the gist of what this meme is all about...
State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. You can track your progress however works for you. Evelina used graphs and graphics, an example of which you can view HERE. You can find my previous State of the ARCs HERE. Lindsi from Do You Dog-ear? also has a great way of organizing her ARCs and you can find them HERE.
Link your post with mine at the end of the month, and see how others have done with their ARCs also.

These can be any ARCs you acquire. Include ARCs from NetGalley, Edelweiss, publisher/author gifts, giveaway wins, etc. Any book is eligible as long as it is an ARC.
I will be posting my State of the ARC on the last day of each month.
Rules of State of the ARC:
- Mention in your post that you are linking up with State of the ARC @ All The Book Blog Names Are Taken, which is a fun way to share our ARC progress, challenges, wins, woes, and mishaps.
- Include the link to my current State of the ARC post. Evelina has given permission to use her image in your posts.
- Don't forget to visit all the other bloggers participating in the link-up, and comment.
- And most importantly - have fun!
If you have any other questions that I have not covered here, feel free to ask away. I would love to build this back up again, because it was such a comforting thing to be apart of, and I met fellow bloggers who were struggling just like I was. I even got my ratio on NetGalley up into the high 90s.
Of course, now it is down into the low 80s because I lost my mind at the beginning of April and went on a request/wish spree. I have only been declined ONE of the thirty+ that I thought I needed, literally everything else was approved/wishes were granted. And the one was The Cousins by Karen McManus, which I figured I probably would not get anyway because I do not read enough YA even though I am obsessed with all of her books and want to be Bronwyn and marry Nate and live happily ever after.
I'm sorry, did my crazy just come out? Oops, looks like it did. Sorry 'bout that.
ANYWAY.
If you have questions, ask away! Hope to see at the end of the month for May's State of the ARC!
Happy Reading
Sarah
I think it is wonderful that you are hosting this for Evelina. I hate it when I don't get approved for that one book that I really, really want. I am sorry that you were not approved for The Cousins, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carole! It is not easy and I have not been doing such a great job in terms of promoting it until now. I thought it would be easier to get people participating because of past participation, but it did not go that way. I hope I can build it back up to be steady again, to hand off whenever Evelina is ready. She is such an asset to the blogging community and her new blogger posts were full of such fantastic advice.
DeleteI figured I would not approval for The Cousins, even though my NetGalley bio directly states that I LOVE KAREN MCMANUS. I just have to wait for my precious pre-ordered hardcover coming in...December :'(
