We're in lockdown (again!) here so no Mall trip on Friday. I did, however, manage to get another trip in on Monday prior to lockdown so......
ReplyDeleteNon-Fiction:

Betrayal in Berlin - George Blake, the Berlin Tunnel and the Greatest Conspiracy of the Cold War by Steve Vogel
Spitfire - The Biography by Jonathan Glancey
Fiction:
Vienna Spies by Alex Gerlis
Rules for Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson
The Stasi Game by David Young
The Memory Wood by Sam Lloyd
I heard, what with the mutating strains of COVID now. Geez, UK, thanks! Just kidding, we probably started it because we are really good at fucking up literally everything. Enjoy your lockdown!
DeleteI had some eBook library holds come in. Lord knows if I will get to them before they expire.
ReplyDeleteRed Pill by Hari Kunzru
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves
I will get to the last two because they are for reading groups.
I hope you do! That's always the worst, to have just a little bit left and it expires or something. I will we got as long for ebooks as we do for physical ones.
DeleteThanks for stopping by - happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, happy reading!
DeleteOoh Revenge of the Sluts- I was just looking at that one the other day after seeing it somewhere. I'm all for that one.
ReplyDeleteIt's AWFUL! The writing is really bad and the book needs professional editing. it was so repetitive and really just not good. The thought process of the main character in particular was really stilted and weird. Don't spend money on this one! It is really too bad, because the message could have been so powerful, if it was edited and written decently. The publisher is Wattpad Books, which I did not know before I requested it. So, I should not be surprised that it is no bueno.
DeleteAw that sucks. With a title like that... :) I was looking forward to some revenge smackdown- style lol. But yeah Wattpad. I hate to say that, but probably not a super big surprise.
DeleteWattpad is doing themselves no favors by not using professional editors. There's no way a pro let that get to NetGalley.
DeleteI got the Debbie Herbert book from Prime too. I'm looking forward to reading it. It looks good. Hope you enjoy your books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt does! I have been so disappointed in many of the Prime reads I have received lately, I really hope this one is good. Happy Reading!
DeleteNot one of us looks good. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe first 70% was really great! The ending was...not the best.
DeleteRevenge of the Sluts is on my TBR. Hope you enjoy it!

I ended up being really disappointed by it - it is in dire need of professional editing. I hope the finished copy comes out much better, and that you enjoy it!!
DeleteRevenge of the Sluts looks great.
ReplyDeleteI was super excited by the premise but the writing was pretty bad. Needs a good couple rounds with professional editors.
DeleteRevenge of the Sluts is an awesome title! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
I was so psyched because I love the premise. But the writing was really bad and in major need of professional editors. It's always such a bummer when that part of the process is overlooked.
