Stacking the Shelves 17

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc. Never has my addiction been more obvious than when I am now keeping track of every single book I acquire.

On Wednesday one of the women in my small group at church brought a copy of this book for everyone. This came at a good time, I often feel like I am repeating myself in prayer and it is something I struggle with a lot. Hopefully this will help!

  1. Did well with 4 this week:

    Fiction:

The Captain's Daughter by Leah Fleming (couldn't resist a novel about the Titanic!)

    1. Good work! I thought for a brief moment I might be able to control myself after I had that week of so few books...obviously it did not last!

  2. Nice covers on the witch books-I very much like that kind of style.

    1. Same here. I am such a sucker for the cozy mystery/cozy paranormal nonsense. But hey, they are via Kindle Unlimited so even if they are terrible, they did not cost me a dime!

  3. I have heard praise for Wright before.

Last week I bought the Han Solo trilogy from eBay. Published 1997.:)

    1. I've liked his other work for the most part. Namely his refuting of the whole 'Gospel of Judas' thing. He took some shots at Protestantism in the US, which doesn't help. But, I still recommend his work.

    1. I was not really impressed with the first one, which I read a while ago - it made no sense to me that they would suddenly move in together under the guise of 'needing a roommate' thing, after hardly knowing each other. But, I liked the mystery itself and am willing to give it another chance, especially when you get three books for $.99. Can't argue with that price, and having the first one will jog my memory about what I liked best. Happy Reading!

    1. Well, I've already finished Things That Make White People Uncomfortable because I have waited forever to be approved. I want to start them all, honestly, but I have some ARCs to finish, and my own book too! Where would you start??

  6. Sarah, what a huge haul! What's the Bookbub? Amazon Unlimited, is that membership only offered to those that live in the USA?

I love witch books, I'd love to know what you think of these as I've only ever read two good "witch" books; one being HP series of course.

    1. Thank you!

BookBub is a free site you can sign up for which will show you great deals daily on various sites such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble. You enter your favorite genres and you get those specifically emailed to you, and you can also look at your Recommendations page on BookBub. You can also browse all the other genres as well.

I am not sure if Kindle Unlimited is US-only or not. I think it is $10.99 a month, and you get to have up to ten books at a time from the service. Basically, it's like a library, and you 'return' the books when you are done. I really like it. I did a free 30 day trial of that and Prime at the same time, and KU was way better for me at least, for books.

I have never read any witch books before, but I like cozy mystery type books when I need to give my brain a break from all the heavy reading I do. Hopefully I will be able to get to them soon. Thanks for coming by!

    1. Every so often I grab some cozy mysteries to help me get over a reading slump. The covers are pretty fun, even if the books are not super great.
