AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!!!
I have been in SUCH a reading slump, which has bled into a review-finishing slump as well. This hasn't happened in ages and it's quite annoying. Books I was so excited about are now just sitting on the coffee table, waiting for me to get my shit together and start reading again.
I finally forced myself to just choose a book yesterday morning - opted for Ninth House - and have only twenty pages left. I am absolutely loving it and requested book two from the library, so I am picking that up today. Hopefully this ends the slump.
Full disclosure, I have also been dancing my heart out to Taylor's new album. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, The Life of a Showgirl is FANTASTIC.
Otherwise, not much else has been going on. Eleanor, our cousin Clara, and I have been planning two trips for concerts - Vegas in January to see Zayn, and Chicago in July for Louis Tomlinson. We are collecting One Direction members like Inifinity Stones and I live for live music. Especially when the musicians are my favorite English boys who are covered in tattoos. But we can't forget Niall, who is Irish and has ZERO tattoos. He will probably announce something soon since he is back on The Voice, but I'd like my bank account to recover first. Hopefully Mr. Styles runs a few more marathons before announcing anything new!
But the main reason for all of our shows and concerts is that I'd much rather give Eleanor experiences as gifts instead of just STUFF
Happy Reading!
Sarah
We have done quite a few experiences over the years, but I do wish we had done more, and gotten the kids less stuff! I HOPE this ends your reading slump, what a horrible problem!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have finished a couple books and things are looking up, reading-wise.
DeleteI am so glad I started doing experiences instead of stuff. We love going to the theatre so much, and she's obsessed with Hamilton now that she's old enough to understand it. She also loves Six and Wicked. Plus, Vegas for Zayn and Chicago for Louis? This kid is SPOILED. lol.
Experiences last a LOT longer. I hope the Munchkin is a LOT better after her hospital stay. Thoughts & Prayers for your reading slump.... [grin]
ReplyDeleteShe's so much better, thank you!!!
DeleteWe know how well thoguhts and prayers work, lol. I am kind of out of the slump, so that's a bonus!
Concerts are always a great idea to do with your kids. Or going to the theatre which my boys loved so much that they even played themselves.
ReplyDeleteGreat you found a book that got you out of your reading stump. Maybe that's the thing, read something you usually don't. I will remember that the next time I'm stuck.
It's our most favorite thing to do together, and we like a lot of the same music so that's a bonus! Plus, she's not going to miss Vegas or Chicacgo, even if she didn't like Zayn or Louis, but luckily she does.
DeleteWe used to go more to the theatre and museums with our boys, not that many great concerts around where we lived. But they participated themselves. And yes, memories are the best presents.
DeleteUgh reading slumps are the worst. Ninth House is great though.. it might just be the book to get you out of the slump.
ReplyDeleteIT WAS SO GOOD!!!! I immediately got the seond book and read it in a day. I need books three NOW. It's not on NetGalley yet but I am constantly checking.
DeleteI nearly fell into a slump myself this month. I was reading Joe Hill's latest 900 page behemoth, and was finding it hard to balance it with all the other books on my list. Glad to hear you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this latest slump. They happen, but it's important to remember why we blog in the first place. It's supposed to be fun!
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY! I just need to doomscroll TikTok for a while, but luckily this week it turned into hopescroll with Mamdani's big win in NYC and the other huge blue wins in deep red places. We might be okay after all.
