Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.
So I am day 23 of the plague or whatever this is. I am feeling way better than when it all started, but it has been ups and downs of feeling better and then feeling awful again. But antibiotics and steroids and emergency inhalers have made a huge difference, yay! Now I am mostly just tired, which makes writing reviews difficult, since all I want to do is lay on the couch and read/sleep. Spring Break started yesterday for me, so hopefully a few more days of rest and I can start cranking out the ridiculous amount of reviews I have to get done.

I was starting to be 'quite concerned' - which is a LOT for a Brit! I had images of you being teargassed at a protest (I know what you're like) and ending up in a Gulag with slow Internet (the horror!). Glad you're on the mend from whatever bug you picked up. Did the doctors have any idea what it was/is?
ReplyDelete'Only' two from me this week - although one was technically from last week (late delivery). Both non-fiction:
Black Sea - Coasts and Conquests from Pericles to Putin by Neal Ascherson
Female Tommies - The Frontline Women of the First World War by Elisabeth Shipton
I appeciate your concern! Luckily I have not been teargassed since 2020 during the protests over the murder of George Floyd. If I were home in Minnesota, it would probably be different because I would be out in the thick of it - don't let anyone fool you, ICE has not left Minneapolis! And they''re in Vermont now also, doing a lot of the same shit. Interesting how trump is going after states that have super low numbers of undocumented immigrants, but are massively blue.
DeleteDoctor isn't sure, so he's treated it as a sinus infection. Today is my last day of the antibiotic and I already finished the steroid. It was so awful, I would literally wake up in a coughing fit, and then panic because I could not breathe. I still have a bit of a cough, but nothing like it was in the last couple weeks. So, this is officially day 24 I think? Maybe day 25.
I've tried to have so much restraint with my ARCs recently, but seeing everything you got it giving me serious FOMO! Why can't I be satisfied with the books on my shelves?
ReplyDeleteRIGHT?! I need to opt-out of NetGalley emails at this point because that's where all these come from. I don't even look at the website anymore, because I am so out of control with ARCs.
DeleteI think we are not satisfied with the books we already have because we are addicts. And we are always looking for our NEXT FAVORITE BOOK, lol. Possibly we are also hoarders?
