2023 Reading Goals Revisited

I don't really know if I should bother with these anymore, since I think it is unrealistic for me to believe I will ever get all my reviews done. On the other hand, I might, right?

HA!

1. Read 250 books - Same as last year, though I passed this by 54 books in 2022.
Verdict: PASSED! Surpassed this goal by a handful or so this year. Not nearly as many as in 2022, but still met it!

2. Get my TBR below 2,000 books - This is doable, especially if I read more books from my backlog this year, which is my next goal. Plus it is time for another culling of the list to see what I am no longer interested in reading.
Verdict: SO CLOSE! I am currently at 2100-ish books and I know I can get this one done in 2024.

3. Read more from my backlog - I went on massive YA thriller binges this year and I am not sorry at all. I read some really great fucking YA books and look forward to more in 2023...as long as I balance it more efficiently with what is on my TBR.
Verdict: LOL. Not even close. Almost as big of a failure as my thinking I would get more reviews written in 2023.

4. Write some reviews - Seriously. ANY REVIEWS. I started getting more comfortable with mini reviews last year, so I do think this will go much more smoothly in 2023.
Verdict: LOLx2. This was an absolute failure and I am not even one bit sorry.

Have you set any goals for yourself this year? Let me know!

Happy Reading,
Sarah

Stacking the Shelves #270

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc

So this is going to be massive, seeing as how I have not posted a Stacking the Shelves since November 11th. I've also read a lot of them by this point, because reading is all I've been doing blog-wise. But since it has been six weeks-ish since I last did one of these, I am sure some titles have slipped through the cracks. But I am more concerned with having all the titles I've READ, not just the ones I have acquired. Some of the spooky reads from October and November are still trickling in, but for the most part are done.

Tackling the TBR Year-In-Review | 2023

So here we are, at the end of another year. Year five, to be exact, of my attempt to tame this wild TBR of mine. I have mostly accepted the fact that I will never get it down to zero. It would be impossible for me to run out of books to read. Just think of everything I will want to read that hasn't even been written yet!

Anyway, here at the less-than-impressive stats.

************************

1-2-23: I started the year with 2,340 books on my TBR...

...added ZERO books I couldn't resist...

...removed 181 books I no longer wanted to read...

...and deleted 1 duplicate...

...Plus I read a total of 250+ books (not nearly enough from my TBR once again)...

...on 12-31-23 I am ending the year with 2,136 books on my TBR.

That's a total reduction of 204 books.

Is your TBR a problem for you? if so, join me and track your progress weekly. I post on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and last day of the month. I keep track of how many I read, add to the TBR, remove from the TBR, DNF, etc. You can see previous posts HERE.

Happy Reading and Happy New Year!
