Yeah I get that look too. I always end up saying you just haven't found the right genre. I think people are turned off reading at school with the things they get forced to read for class.
I'll tell you what they do...play with their phone and watch the Kardashians!!! *shudders*
I would agree with that statement about school. I have always loved to read, but there were definitely some books in high school I absolutely hated. I pretty much did no reading on my own during college and grad school and it was only about five years ago that I began reading for myself again, and then reviewing, and now blogging.
Shudder indeed. I love some mindless gossip now and then, but the constant barrage is annoying.
LOL That is so me! It always sets me back when someone says they don't read. What do they do then, aside from almost getting run over while playing with their phones.
YES!! I enjoy technology and get too wrapped up in it sometimes but I am really working on keeping my phone away from me while I write. it is harder to do while I am reading, because I like the Goodreads app better than the website.
I've had some very strange conversations with non-readers. They both couldn't understand why I read so much and yet at the same time are amazed how I 'know so much'. I guess they couldn't see the link???
It's very sad when they can make the connection. Then again if they read more they probably would have and therein lies the problem. I too have had people ask me how I can spend so much time reading. Um, hellooooo! I can travel without leaving my home, until I can save enough to actually travel.
I know, what's wrong w/ people?? Seriously though, if someone never reads... what do they DO lol?
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine...stare at the wall? Watch Paint dry? WHAT DO THEY DO???!!
