Summerrrrrrrrrrrr

It's official!

As of 12:37 PM on Friday, May 23rd, Eleanor and I began our summer breaks! (She got out of school at 11:15 even, lucky duck. I had to wait to have my office checked out by admins, which didn't start until noon.)

We are both looking forward to going home to see family, lazy days with friends, lounging by the pool - and reading too, of course.

I am not making any rigid or ambitious summer plans, because at this point we all know what a mood reader I am. I was tempted to do the Twenty Books of Summer Challenge, because it seems like so many of my blog buddies are doing it. But I don't know if that would work for me, because what if there are whole WEEKS that I don't feel like reading ANY TBR books? I guarentee it will happen.

About a month ago I shifted my focus from getting ARC reviews done to actually reading books from my TBR. A big reason for that is, once I started using StoryGraph, I could really get a good glimpse of books on my TBR because it shuffles them randomly. Goodreads does not do that as well and so it seems like the same 50 or so books always populate when I sort randomly.

Side note: Seriouelsy, StroyGraph is AMAZING. I still keep Goodreads to track my shelves tags (*eyeroll* why did they change it??) because it is about the only thing I think Goodreads does better than StoreyGraph. And so far, I have not found any huge mistakes from the import of my data, though occassionally a book is listed as the audio version instead of a version I would actually read. I highly recommend StoryGraph. I love love love the graphs my data generates; sometimes you think you've been reading a lot of X, when it turns out you're reading more Y.

However, now with more time on my hands, I will get back to ARC reviews especially, but reviews in general also. I think we can agree I will never get caught up on all the reviews on THIS page, so I am not going to worry about it and just review what I want, when I want.

So, here are my summer IDEAS:
1. read at least 10 books from the TBR
2. review at least 20 ARCs
3. review at least 10 non-ARCs

These seem like such wimpy goals to me, but I am truly not sure if I am capable of meeting any of them. This ADHD brain of mine has a mind of its own.

Do you have any summer goals? Let me know!

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. Happy Summer. I am in a weird transition period and have no idea what this summer will look like. I think your goals sound manageable.

    1. Thank you! I think they are too, so hopefully I will meet them - honestly I want to surpass them but I also have to be realistic.
