Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc. Never has my addiction been more obvious than when I am now keeping track of every single book I acquire.
Purchased From Author
Okay, so that's kind of weird phrasing, especially because the author is one of my close friends and my daughter's godmother. Stacey and her son Monterio wrote and illustrated the book together. I love the idea, I love the content, and I love that Stacey included specific Bible verses to reference with each aspect.
Amazon (Damn you, BookBub)
I fell off the "No BookBub" wagon hard this week. FOUR DAYS IN A ROW. BUUUUUT, some were free, so, WIN. Also, I secretly love cozy mysteries - but only if they're also free or I can get a huge boxed set for $.99.
Happy Reading!
Sarah
'Other Side of the Night' is on my Amazon Wish List already and 'Last Hope Island' is in my "think about" pile.....
ReplyDeleteOnly one for me this week (shocker I know!):
All the Shah's Men - An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror by Stephen Kinzer
Last Hope Island is only $1.99 right now, so definitely a good deal if you are still thinking about it.
DeleteI so desperately want to start Other Side of the Night (and I just used it for FLF!) but I am trying to get the last of my ARCs finished before I move on to anything else.
Also - added All the Shah's Men to my TBR, another shocking event I'm sure.
I had a feeling that you'd be adding All the Shah's Men. [grin]
DeleteThings should tail off a bit next month but so far I have another book on its way to me and one ordered yesterday.
Because, of course I would :)
DeleteI went to Divine Truth, the Christian bookstore that I've posted about before, today with a friend who had never been there before. I bought a couple books, oops. But two are bible study guides so that does not really count. I am trying to stay away from BookBub again. It is toooooo dangerous!
I do like the 'that one doesn't count' category!
DeleteIt is one of my fave categories, and the one I always use to justify the most outlandish of book purchases.
DeleteI used that a lot when @ University. If the book was course related it didn't count. Plus books I buy when on holiday..... Or books other people buy me..... Plus...... [grin]
DeleteOh yes! Books purchased on vacation NEVER count!
DeleteLooks like a nice haul. I don't go for Amazon's free books anymore because my TBR is already overflowing with NetGalley books :D I hope you enjoy all of your new books.
ReplyDeleteMy STS: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2018/04/stacking-the-shelves-22/
I am trying to get those ARCs done so I can get back to reading books that do not have deadline! And slowly but surely I am getting there. I have been so good for so long, and then suddenly BookBub got me again. Happy Reading!
DeleteI like the Murders,Curlers and Cream I haven't seen that one before!!

I just got it the other day and it was free so go grab it before it is gone.
DeleteMy Heart Is A House sounds great! Last hope Island looks interesting and so does Coming To Jesus, and elusive also looks fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's a really neat book, and it is authentic. It is based on a conversation Monterio started one day and Stacey turned it into a picture book. I think it means all the more to me that I know it is a real conversation that they had, because it is completely 100% something Monterio would say.
DeleteLast Hope Island is still only $1.99 on Amazon, not sure when the sale ends though.
Ooo, mixed bunch here. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteVERY MIXED! It has been a while since I have snagged any cozy mysteries.
DeleteLots of haul, haven't really heard of these books, but I love the illustrations on the cover of your friend, Stacey's book.
ReplyDeleteAngelica @ Paperback Princess
Hi Angelica, thanks for coming by! The illustrations throughout the book are super cute, I will be posting my review this afternoon. I definitely recommend it for little ones to understand having a relationship with Jesus and how we can follow Him. Happy Reading!
DeleteBookBub can be too useful sometimes!
ReplyDeleteOh Lord help me, yes. I have an Amazon credit card and it is too easy to press 'buy now with 1-click'. I was doing so well for MONTHS. Then I caved. But I have now been BookBub-free for two days.
DeleteAgain withe the huge haul :D I hope you enjoy your new arrivals! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely did not intend to haul so much this week, and I would not have, had I been able to stay away from BookBub!
DeleteBookbub will get you every time. Looks like you grabbed some good ones though.
ReplyDeleteRight?? And I had been SO GOOD, for months. MONTHS! I am two days clean now, starting over again. Happy Reading!
