Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature co-hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

    1. Thank you! The cover is stunning and I am loving the book so far. I am also partial to Scotland in general so I knew I had to read this one.

    1. This ight be the very worst kind of disappoint we book dragons could ever suffer, the expectation of books and then...nothing. I am sobbing with you, friend.

  3. I had many holds come in on my library eBook service. The question is how to get them all read before they come due.
    Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell (I will get this one read because it is a reading group pick.)
The Forgotten Kingdom by Signe Pike.

    1. Eleanor and I have this exact problem right now. There is a series she likes about mermaids and there are like, 24 books. We usually read fast, so we put holds on all of them and they came in much faster than we thought they would. Oops!

  4. Tell Me Everything looks like my kind of read!

    1. I definitely think you will like it. The cover has literally nothing to do with the content and I have no idea why they chose it, but the content would be right up your alley. It's fantastic.

    2. Ooh now I need to get it!

    3. You really do. You might guess the 'twist'; I did and we kind of think alike when it comes to these types of books. Even so, it was still a superb read and I loved it; knowing the truth didn't ruin it for me at all.

  5. Nothing beats new books! I'm so glad to see you still posting. I've had a hectic couple of weeks transitioning a large part of our work team to continue to work from home through at least March of next year, but I'm happy to finally be back to posting more regularly. Hope you and the little one are doing well!

    1. So glad to hear from you! I am really glad to hear your company is taking this seriously, especially with recent spikes (Nebraska is onto our second wave now when we never even got finished with the first one and cases are spiking like crazy. It's scary). I am hoping to be posting more reviews this week, as I have finished up lesson planning for the next two weeks and have a moment to myself to finally think. Eleanor is completely enthralled right now with books about ghosts and werewolves and all kinds of spooky stuff - and that has nothing to even do with Halloween. This kid of mine, lol. Stay safe, friend.

    2. I'm so happy to hear both of you are doing well. If it makes you feel any better, my Dad first showed me Silence of the Lambs when I was 10 years old. I was completely blown away by it, but my Mom intervened and wouldn't let me watch it again. She was worried about nightmares lol.

    3. That's exactly what I am worried about! I can't believe your dad let you watch Silence of the Lambs. I haven't even seen it and I am 37!

One of our fave librarians (our fave branch recently opened up again) showed Eleanor all kinds of spooky and creepy non-fiction books when we visited on Saturday, but that night once it was dark, a few were TOO creepy for her she decided. And I would have to agree that the zombie and vampire books are creepy. HOWEVER, they are MORE creepy than anything she would see on Buffy, so I guess I can finally start letting her watch select episodes. No joke, she has been begging me to let her watch Buffy since she was five.

  6. "Strange New Worlds" seems appealing, but a fruitless idea, i think: the universe is just too big and the speed of light too slow...

    1. Ah, but the opportuniry to wonder is half the fun in itself! My mom and I were just talking about this last night, that there is no way we can be the only living beings in the entire universe, there are others out there though we may never find each other. Whether they are human or not, who knows. Evolution in one place might look very different from evolution in another. The possibilities are endless!

    2. i admire your optimism; in truth, the future is not predictable, mostly anyway...

    3. I am surprisingly optimistic about a good deal of things, despite how much I rage about some topics/ideas/people.

  7. Madam draws attention just with that minimalistic cover and the font. Will have to take a look!

Hope you will have a good week ahead. Stay positive! The Sunday Post #16

    1. The book was FANTASTIC! The protagonist herself drove me crazy, but I loved the overall feel of the novel and the end, dang! I really loved it. So far so good, hope you have a great week also!
