What In The Actual Fuck

So I have recently discovered that Blogger is retroactively marking random comments all willy-nilly as Spam - including MY OWN comments on MY OWN blog.

Most recent dicovery was today. I noticed a comment had been marked as Spam (it happened today because the Spam folder was empty yesterday) on my Stacking the Shelves #219 post. I went to the post and sure enough, Cindy's comment was no longer there - but my reply to her was. I went back to the Spam folder and marked her comment as NOT SPAM, then refreshed the post's page. Her comment showed up once again, with my reply.

Seriously Blogger, get your shit together.

And while you're at it, give us spell checker back - one that is actually functional and useful and accurate this time.

  1. Been noticing this for a while now. Totally weird, how it can flag something as spam, weeks after the event and posted by the Blog OWNER! WTF just doesn't cover it.

    1. I noticed it a month or two after the last debacle with Spam comments and everything getting flagged, then nothing for a while, and then the last couple weeks it happening more often again. So ridiculous. But I don't want to leave Blogger because I still like it better than WordPress.

    2. Just a moderate annoyance. Blogger works OK most of the time.... Unlike *Twitter* these days! [rotflmao]

Omg right? I barely use Twitter anymore, except to harass Dan, basically.

    4. Never used Twitter (or Facebook). FUN to watch it implode from the side-lines though. What an absolute TWONK Musk is.... [lol]

    5. Facebook is one of he longest relationships I've ever had, lol. It was such a new and novel thing, though I am also the MySpace generation. What a gift that was, taught a whole generation of kids how to code so we could customize our pages. *Sigh*.

Facebook was great back in the beginning, when you had to be a college student and have a university email address to log in with. Then it eventually branched off into individual sites where high schoolers could join, but could not interact with college students. Then people with company email addresses could join the business network...and now it is a giant clusterfuck. But I can't bring myself to close my account. It's nearly 20 years of my life recorded there, though I have deleted all photographic evidence of my years spent partying while in college.

  2. Mine does this too, not sure why. Sometimes they don't pop up until week's later.

  3. Blogger is a mess. Whatever they did... I mean, comments that go through get flagged as spam later and disappear, and how does a blog owner get their OWN comments flagged?

    1. Something got fucked up big time with the last update. And the whole spell checker thing pisses me off to no end. Ugh. I seriously do not get how MY comments on MY blog get flagged. Does that happen to you, too?

    2. I haven't had that happen to me but I've seen lots of people saying it does. I still get legit comments from bloggers who've commented for years going to spam. And my comments on other sites going to spam. I think Elon Musk secretly took over Blogger and is fucking it.

    3. Ha, maybe! I have not had anyone going to the spam folder except me in recent months.
