Stacking the Shelves #324

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Reality. It is a chance to showcase all the goodies you've collected throughout the week, whether they're bought on-line or in-store, an ARC or a final copy, borrowed from a friend or the library, physical or digital, etc.

  1. I had a chance to download this one but haven’t been reading much historical fiction lately.

    1. Okay but you always say you're 'not expecting anything' and then still manage to sneak 1 or 2 onto my TBR! lol

Here's what I am into: Ferrari, Warrior Queens (duh), and Berlin. Maaaaaaybe The Picnic but always iffy on that time period.

    2. I thought I saw 'Warrior Queens' on one of your previous posts? It's what alerted me to it being out there needing to be bought? Maybe it was in an alternate timeline where you got it first... [muses]

    3. I checked my Goodreads and don't have the book the book anywhere. I know I've read books with similar titles though? Or maybe I forgot to put it on my Goodreads shelf? At this point...who knows lol

  4. If you want to stack your shelf, I just found this.
    https://www.amazon.de/Number-One-Heaven-Heroes-Died/dp/0141022876/
I don't know how much it would be to be sent to the States. Alternatively, I could order it and send it to you.

    1. I also checked Amazon and it's $24 with free shipping. But I am having such a hard time giving Amazon any money, because Bezos will happily attend trump's inaugeration and continue to benefit from this shitty 'administration'. Ugh.

    2. I totally understand. The one on the German site is also amazon but it's a used copy sold by someone else. Of course, the big A will also earn throught that.
Unfortunately, for me, it's often impossible to get certain English books elsewhere ...

    3. Right?! He has such a monopoly and I hate it. Thank you for the offer, but for now I am going to wait. Half Price Books here is fantastic and I can check locations around the country.

    4. That's a good way to deal with it. I only ever order from them if I can't get it elsewhere but need it now. Like for a book club. I can't get many English books in Germany and when one of the otehr sites don't have it, I check there.

    5. This is the only way we can make our voices heard right now in the US it seems - impact their wallets. I used to use Amazon all the time and now I only have used it for immediate emergencies when I need something I can't find quickly here in town. I have quit shopping at Target also. THAT one is the hardest. I loved Target :'(

    6. I know that is tough. But, as you say, they will only feel it through their wallets. So, good luck.

    7. It's making a difference for Target, 100%. They've had HUGE losses since rolling back DEI. And that was before the official 40-day boycott. Hopefully they do the right thing.
