Top Ten Tuesday #39

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's topic is The Ten Most Recent Additions to My TBR. I know, I know, I am supposed to be Tackling the TBR with Chuckles, but it is completely impossible for me to not add books to my TBR. At least I am removing some, too. Baby steps here, people. Baby steps.

What have you added recently? Leave a comment and let me know.

Happy Reading!

  1. DNA is not Destiny looks like something I'd be interested in. I'm always fascinated by stuff like that.

    1. Same here. I think the debate of nature vs nurture is such a fascinating one. I pretty much come down on the side of both mattering quite a bit - especially when it comes to my students in particular.

    1. Thank you Chrissi! I am so tempted to go right now and request holds on all that I can find in my library collection, but I have so many that I own that must get read and then sold back to Half Price Books!

  3. Interesting list. I need more non-fiction in my life, so I'll definitely be checking out some of your recs.

    Happy TTT!

    1. You have definitely come to the right place! I especially love history, but am also interested in religion, social justice issues (in particular racism, race relations, and LGBTQIA+ topics), fashion, city biographies, and all kinds of things that don't see to go together. Thank you for coming by!

  4. I tend to read limited subjects for my non fiction-royalty, politics, true disasters...I'm hoping to read lots of non fiction this year! I might need to do a few posts about books in each genre I still have to read!

    1. Make sure you read that Yellowstone one, it was so good! Sad, but so well-researched, lots of photos from the period.

  6. Intriguing list! Lately I have added The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden, A Student of History by Nina Revoyr, Hollywood's Eve (biography of Eve Babitz) by Lili Anolik.

    1. Thank you! I am in hyperdrive on social justice issues right now (I will 100% wear the so-called derogatory label of 'Social Justice Warrior' with pride), so those topics are all near and dear to my heart. I added the Eve Babitz bio to my TBR, thanks!

    1. Always glad to give some great non-fiction recommendations. I have high hopes for a lot of these and if you get the chance to read any let me know so we can discuss them. Thanks for coming by!

  8. Oh wow, that's a lot of what I'd class as heavy reading... I'm more of a fluffy type. I hope you get to enjoy some of them soon though!

    1. Thank you Nicci, I hope so too. I am really struggling to not request any from the library, since they are all so new and I have had some books languishing on my TBR for years. It is a struggle every.single.day. Happy Reading!

  9. Women of the Revolution is on my 'Books of Interest' list (essentially a collection of covers sitting on my PC - 2,836 in that particular pile!!). I read 'Women & Power some weeks ago. I'll be interested by what you think of that one. I think I may have the opposite of DNA is Not Destiny in my Science book pile: Blueprint - How DNA Makes Us Who We Are by Robert Plomin. Picked up as a half price hardback (unusual for me) in the New Years sale.

    1. Okay seriously, you need to use Goodreads and get all those titles cataloged so you can see if you even really want to read them! I added Blueprint to my TBR just now - seriously, you guys and your similar reading tastes are killing me when it comes to my TBR, lol. I am really looking forward to the Women & Power one.

  10. Black and British and DNA is not a destiny both look good. I hope you get to read these.

    1. I've never heard of of him before, but I found the book on Goodreads when I added a Gilded Age true crime story. I don't read too much modern true crime but I enjoy a good poison plot from the Victorian and Gilded Ages. Glad I could send a book your way, hope you enjoy it!
