Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week is all about books we read that we want to own forever. And while owning books is all well and good, currently Eleanor and I simply do not have room. Her toy room contains three overflowing three-shelf bookcases. I have two five-shelf bookcases also overflowing; one is actually my 'To-Read' bookcase.
So, I am modifying this a little bit, because these are books that I really loved, but do not plan to purchase due to limited space. Think of it as my hypothetical bookshelf, if we were to have enough room for every book we ever wanted. (If you are a regular around here, you also know that any fiction making this list is a huuuuuuuge deal.)
Have you read any of these? Are any on your TBR? Leave a link to your TTT also and I will be sure to visit.
Happy Reading!
Sarah
Two Can Keep A Secret- ack! Why didn't I put that one on my list? I should have.
ReplyDeleteQuick, you still have time to add it!!
DeleteI own BECOMING but in the audio format. So good. Books I want to own
ReplyDeleteI bet audio is even better, because she narrates it, right?! Such a good book. I want to be best friends with Michelle Obama, she is amazing.
DeleteI know what you mean about having limited space. I just brought a box of stuff to Goodwill the other day so me and my books (I have no bookshelves) would feel less cramped. So I'm getting more picky about the books I get in hardback, even though I enjoy books in that format more than eBook (for the most part).
ReplyDeleteI have had to be extremely picky due to space, and cost also. I very rarely buy books in hard cover, though Dan Jones is the exception to pretty much every rule I have about books.
DeleteI own a e-book copy of Becoming and love it. Have you read it yet? I'd recommend borrowing it from the library if nothing else.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Yes, all of these are books I have read that I would love to own if I had the space. It is a fantastic book.
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but several of them are on my TBR list. And I hear you on not having enough bookshelves -- and yet I buy books anyway! It's an addiction :(
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I have had to get really strict due to space and money. When I do buy books, I go to Half Price Books, or library sales, and sell them again when I am done. Otherwise Eleanor and I would have no room to sleep or eat!!
DeleteI'm running out of space myself so I get where you're coming from. Becoming has gotten so many amazing reviews, I need to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
It is a truly wonderful book. I admire Michelle Obama so much and her story is just as important as President Obama's. Read it soon if you can!
DeleteI LOVED The Hate U Give! The movie was good too.
ReplyDeleteI did not see the movie, I always fear that when I love a book so much, the movie will never compare.
DeleteThe shelf space dilemma is real! I feel your pain. With the exception of my tbr (which sometimes looks like stacks on any available flat surface), I regularly remove books and try to only keep my very favorite titles! My TTT
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I do. Dan Jones is pretty much the only author truly safe from possibly being sold once I am done reading the book. I very very rarely buy new books anymore; any time I do buy books, they are from Half Price Books or a library sale. Unless they are Christian non-fiction, those I typically buy new because I keep a lot of them as well.
DeleteThe Hate U Give was really good! Never saw the movie though. And Two Can Keep a Secret is here too! That book made me love and want to read more of YA thriller/mystery.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen the movie either because I loved the book so much and I fear the movie will be too different. But other friends who loved the book really loved the movie too, so maybe someday...
DeleteHave you read One of Us is Lying, also by McManus? There will also be a sequel to One of Us coming out soonish. I am so excited for it!!
I don't have plans to watch the movie yet but yeah, maybe someday soon.
DeleteYES! I actually knew of the book because some of my Twitter mutuals were talking about it and liked it but I never paid attention to it. I read Can You Keep a Secret first and because I was in the mood for more YA thriller/mystery, I decided to pick up One of Us is Lying WITHOUT KNOWING it's by the same author lol. I just found out AFTER I read the book. I'm also excited for the sequel too! I'll be honest, mainly because I want to know of Bronwyn and Nate got their endgame.
I just saw McManus Tweeted about the UK cover of the ARC and I am practically in tears because I WANT THE BOOK NOW!!!!
DeleteI am going to look at the Karen M McManus books at some point as they sound interesting. I love my Book Cave...I always spent my pocket money on books and in my room they surround me on bookcases and I just love them! They are sort of comforting to be around. My friends always spent money on clubbing, clothes, shoes etc but for me any spare money went on books! Only the titles and genres have changed over the years!
ReplyDeleteShe is FANTASTIC! One of Us is Lying was really good and there will be a sequel coming soon called One of Us is Next. Two Can Keep a Secret is my fave though...so far.
DeleteThis is such a difficult idea! How did you manage to narrow down to just this ten?
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, it was not as hard as I expected it to be. Once I have read something (non-fiction anyway) I never read it again - Dan Jones being the exception to every book rule I have. Fiction, however, I will reread. But the non-fiction on this list are all five star reads for me, so they were extra special.
DeleteTHUG is one that I should have added to my TTT this week. It was SO good!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo good. So, so good. I was in tears reading, and I could not put it down.
