Announcement | State of the ARC

Happy Saturday all!

So, I have some pretty exciting news to share and I am so giddy about this because it means I am helping out a book blogger who I admire, and who has been so helpful to me.

Many of you may know Evelina, the owner of Avalinah's Books. She is a huge asset to the book blogger community and is all about lifting others up and helping them be successful - especially new bloggers, but also book bloggers in general. I have learned a lot from her over the last two years since I found her blog and started participating in the monthly meme, State of the ARC. I joined up in January of 2018 when my ARCs were OUT OF CONTROL. It was seriously bad, I had at least 20 books in various stages of the process - either not started, started, reading, or waiting on a review. (I also felt better about my own mess of ARCs when I saw others who had faaaaaaar more than I did.)

This past fall, Evelina took a much-deserved break. In that time, I did not complete any State of the ARCs on my own, and I missed the monthly feature because it was always fun to see the progress others had made, and to cheer one another on. Evelina has since returned to book blogging again, though life is busy as usual. I asked her this week if she was planning to start up State of the ARC again and...

(Finally, I am getting to the announcement part. I do get pretty long-winded sometimes. Sorry!)

Evelina asked if I wanted to host it for the next month or two until her schedule calms down a bit!

I am super excited about this, because it is fun. Plus, it is also helping someone who is so great at helping others.

I hope everyone who participated in the past will be willing to hang out here with me for a bit, and I think it would be a great way to say "Welcome Back!" (even though the welcome back is kind of delayed, sorry Evelina!) I wanted to make sure anyone who wants to jump back in knows far enough in advance, and that we can start encouraging and celebrating progress once again. And the next couple weeks also gives me a chance to figure out how to do all the fancy graphs and linky widget stuff that are kind of vital to the whole thing.

I will post just as Evelina did at the end of the month - January 31st and February 29th - and longer if Evelina needs more time. I am in the Central Time Zone in the United States; the posts will go up at 7 PM on those dates and remain open for 6 days.

I hope to see you all then!

Happy Reading,
Sarah

    1. Thank you so much Nicci :) I am so honored that she offered it to me. I am still struggling with the graphs part, but I have a couple weeks to get it all figured out!

    1. Right?? I would never have gotten to where I did without State of the ARC; it was such a major help to me. I hope that even if I can't do it quite as well, that it will hold people over until Evelina is ready/able to start it up again herself.

  4. I'm so glad you're taking over State Of The ARC for a while. I love this feature and have kept my own going in the hope Evelina's would return :-)

    1. I am super excited for it too. I am hoping to spread the word but I don't know a ton of the others who consistently participated. I tweeted about it again tonight, please share it with any that you know!

  5. I knew Evelina was taking a hiatus, but still did my State of the ARC post every month! I knew she or the feature would be back eventually, and it really helps me stay organized for the month ahead. I've always tweaked how I do my posts, posting upcoming ARCs and their release dates, so I can refer to it throughout the month and know which books I have coming up, and when I need to read them by.

I'm happy someone is filling in until her schedule is less hectic, because I've missed seeing everyone's posts!

    1. I am so glad I can help out, though my will be no where near as fancy - at least to start with. I did not continue, mainly because I had things pretty well under control by then, and it also felt kind of weird to post without Evelina! I like your idea for how you are using it and look forward to your posts!
