Tackling the TBR Weeks 23 and 24: June 8 - June 21, 2022

I am now in year FOUR of Tackling the TBR. Slowly but surely I have made big strides in getting my TBR under control. When I first started in 2019, that list was topping out at over 5,000 books. I don't know that I will ever get below 500, but a #BookDragon can dream!

I will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month. Feel free to join in if you'd like!

Previous Week's TBR Total: 2,428

Currently Reading

Books Added to TBR: 0

Books Removed from TBR: 0

Books Reads

Books DNF-ed: 0

Duplicates Removed: 0

New TBR Total: 2,428

So yeah, no movement AGAIN. But I was getting dangerously close to not being 'X books ahead' on my Goodreads challenge for the year and I like to be ahead, so I can spend time getting some reviews up while Eleanor has to be at her father's house. Hence, the Gossip Girls books, which I LOVE and will never apologize for. I had not read the Carlyles and it ended up being fine, but was just kind of the same thing all over again but with new characters. Not surprised the series only lasted four books. GG Psycho Killer though, was HILARIOUS. I can appreciate an author's sense of humor when they can kind of spoof their own series and then add in a ridiculous amount of murder, just for fun. It cracked me up.

Happy Reading!
Sarah

  1. You read 14 books and didn't add any and your TBR total remained the same??? I don't get it. I must be missing something.

    1. All of what I read the last two weeks came from the library (and Pretty Dead Queens from NetGalley), so in those cases when I know I will only have a limited time to read them they go right on my 'currently reading' list. I have read nothing from my TBR in the last two weeks. I am failing hard at this lately, but at least my numbers did not go up!

  2. Jemima Boone has me curious. Queens looks like something I might like, and Foxglove Manor. A good spooky cover gets my notice lol. Oh, I saw your comment on my Tuesday Tagline post too. would love for you to join if you ever feel like it. :)

    1. I keep putting Boone off and don't have a good reason. Mainly I keep getting distracted by other books. I think yoou would like Wright's work. Technically they're Christian fiction, but it never feels forced or preachy when God is brought up in conversations. Like, it flows and makes sense. All of the stories deal with two female lead characters, separated by decades. Sometimes they are family, sometimes not. There is always a crime (usually murder) that gets worked out. There are paranormal aspects that end up not being paranormal (mostly), but the atmosphere that Wright creates in each novel is fantastic and gothic-y - which you know I love!

I may have to join you...though everything I am reading right now is non-fiction so no tag lines, just sub titles!

    2. Feel free to jump in anytime... subtitles are fine too. :)

I probably would like them. that atmosphere does appeal to me... and I've grown to like dual timeline stories.

    3. I may have to do that, I have had some pretty great subtitles, especially recently.

I really think you would like her work. You can't really go wrong with any of them, though Gossamer Pond was my least favorite. And it wasn't even a bad book or anything, it was perfectly fine. But Lost Lake, Misty Wayfair, Foster Hill, Bonaventure Circus were SO GOOD. We're talking about four stars vs three stars, really. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

  3. Look at all those Jaime Jo Wright books!!! Love it!!! I am making slow progress on my physical TBR list, trying to spend this month and next only on books I own (and review books). I love that you have the discipline not to add any more books...I keep adding books. If I had been using Goodreads longer than 3 years I would have thousands of books on my list too.

    1. It. Is. Insane. I have been on Goodreads since 2012 I think? Maybe 2013. I was so excited in the beginning because I was finding so many books I was interested in, but now I am a lot more picky about what I even add to my TBR.

I have now finished all of Wright's books and am not-so-patiently waiting for her 2022 and 2023 releases. I can not thank you enough for bringing her to my attention. I love her writing so much and the way she connects everything in the end. She's phenomenal.
