Each week I will be keeping track of books that I have read from my TBR. I have a huge backlog of books and often end up reading new books that are not even on my list, instead of trying to whittle down the list that continues to balloon up on Goodreads. Chuckles had the idea first, and we are going to use this as a chance to encourage each other to get those books read instead of always grabbing new ones and thus never making a dent in the physical and digital stacks we already have. It will also give us a chance to take a good look at our lists and see if there are ones we are no longer interested in. We will be posting on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and the last day of the month.
Previous Week's TBR Total: 3,354
Books Added to TBR: 18
Books Removed from TBR: 27
Currently Reading: 6
Books Read: 4
Books DNF-ed: 0
New TBR Total: 3,346
Happy Reading!
Sarah
and i thought I had a problem... i've only got about 2k, but i say to myself, i'm gradually paring them down, but i'm not sure i believe me...
ReplyDeleteYou can always join Chuckles and I to try and keep the TBR in check! I had over 4K when we started this on January 1st. I am doing far better than I thought I would.
DeleteProgress is progress. :)
ReplyDeleteAlways! :)
DeleteWow, that’s a big TBR. According to my Pinterest board, I have about 500 books that I want to read someday. I keep adding new ones instead of reading books from the list.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Right?! I am so glad that Chuckles decided to start tracking her TBR because it has been such a help to me too. I think back in January when we started, my TBR was well over 4K+. Just by going back through and seeing what I was no longer interested in reading has helped a ton. You can always join us if the Pinterest board isn't helping curb those impulses to get new books :D
DeleteThree books completed last week. One was a reread, one from a newish series that crept onto my TBR and an extremely interesting history of the Peace Corps called All You Need Is Love. To my knowledge I did not add any titles to the TBR this week.
ReplyDeleteNice, you're not breaking even this week, you're ahead!
DeleteWow. I feel so much better with my paltry 800 TBR pile. Of course I'm older than you. We'll see if I read through it before I die of old age.
ReplyDeleteYou should have seen it at the beginning of this little adventure - I was over 4K. But I have gone back through Goodreads and started wedding out the ones I know longer have interested in, or ones that I know are not the best on that specific subject, and such.
DeleteI was wailing to my pastor a few months ago about how not only do I have a huge TBR right now, but just think of all the books not even written yet that I will want to read. I will die and won't get to read them. He just kind of tilted his head at me and said, "What do you think Heaven will look like for you?" And it hit me, due, Heaven will be a big library and I will read every book ever that I have ever wanted to read.
I bet we are closer in age than you think! ;)
Interesting you should say that, because I've often thought that in heaven, things are going to be so much bigger and greater and we'll have an eternity to enjoy it all. And the writers who are in heaven are not going to quit writing and think how unimaginably superior their works will be.
DeleteI DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THAT! I am very curious to see what Shakespeare and Chaucer have been up to in the last few centuries. And Harper Lee. And Louisa May Alcott. And LM Montgomery. And Michael Crichton. Oh good gracious, you have opened up a WHOLE OTHER DOOR AND MY BRAIN IS GOING TO EXPLODE!
Delete(Evil laughter) My work here is done...
DeleteI am still thinking about this. 26 minutes later. Mind. Blown.
DeleteWhen you look at the progress you've made since January you can be very proud of yourself! I can see that three figure TBR getting closer every week, which is exciting!
ReplyDeleteYES!! I am trying not to spoil it and taking a peek now. I am trying to wait until the year-end post because I want it to be a huge shocking number. We really are rocking this!
