Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Single-Word Titles

Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

You'd think one-word titles would be easy because I read so much non-fiction, but sometimes the books I read have suuuuuuuper long and ridiculous sub-titles. I am cheating a little and only counting the main title; you may choose to read the sub-title if you wish 😉

Here they are, in no particular order. All of these come from my read shelf and I rated them four stars or more. If I have already reviewed it, the link goes to the post here on my blog.

  2. Crusaders sounds really interesting. I got Slayer and Chosen the other day when Kiersten White came to Denver but I haven't read them yet.

  3. So thrilled to see my first full-length nonfiction title sitting here and right next to Dan Jones, too! My new one is out soon, Women of Power in Anglo-Saxon England, which is not so much the one-word title!

    1. Dan is pretty neat, isn't he? I am totally biased of course, because he did sit and chat with me for a good bit after his book signing a couple years ago. I have your new one on my TBR and have requested that my library system purchase it!

    1. Took is really great, it's one of my fave Hahn books. I have not read anything else by White, just these because they are Buffy-related.

  5. I did the same thing with books that have subtitles. I think it's okay.

    1. Agreed. There are hardly any non-fiction books with only one-word titles and no subtitles!

  6. Great choices! I still need to get to Slayer but the Buffy fan in me is excited and anxious.

    1. I was so anxious too. Buffy is everything to me, even all these years later. However, I refuse to read the comics because I can not handle not having flesh-and-blood characters. I really liked the two, and found it explored an interesting aspect of the Buffy-verse. And characters we know and love are there, either in dreams, or flashbacks, and the like.

    1. I really liked the duology much more than I thought. I am a rabid Buffy fan and very protective of the series. I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed Slayer and Chosen.

  9. I have not read any of these but I'm interested in Slayer even though I've never seen Buffy. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2020/03/top-ten-tuesday-books-or-series-i-wish.html.

    1. Slayer and Chosen are great. I have thought about this for a while, because others have also mentioned having interest in them, but have never seen Buffy or read the seasons that followed in the comics. I myself have not read the comics, though they are canon, and these books are canon too, but they explain enough from the comics to tell you what you need to know. I think you would be able to give them a try without having seen the show, because there are explanations throughout. Even so, it is one of the greatest shows ever made, so watch it also! Except season six is rough, blech.

  11. Ahhh the first time I saw "Mercia" for some reason I thought it said "'Merica" haha. I included Slayer too! Great list <3

  14. I forgot about Slayer! And Forensics is interesting. I do love a good forensics show so might have to add this book to my list to start reading about it instead.

    1. You would most definitely like Forensics, if you enjoy shows like that. I love First 48 and such, and this book was right on the money for me. Hope you get to it soon!
