Top Ten Tuesday: Character Freebie

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's topic is a Character Freebie. Seeing as how I read about real people almost exclusively, instead my list will include those I most like reading about.

1. Eleanor of Aquitaine

2. William the Marshal

3. Passengers aboard Titanic

4. Those living in Medieval England/Scotland/Ireland

5. Those living in Anglo-Saxon England/Scotland/Ireland

6. Plantagenet Kings and Queens (Eleanor again, because this is my list and she is awesome enough to include twice. Also Henry II, Richard I, John, Henry III, Edward I, Edward II, Isabella of France, Edward III, Edward IV, the Lost Princes, Richard III, among others)

7. Tudor Kings and Queens and relatives/associates (primarily but not limited to Catherine of Aragon, Juana of Castile, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Henry VII, Henry VIII, Mary I, Arbella Stewart, Bess of Hardwick)

8. Scottish Kings and Queens (Mary, Queen of Scots is #1)

9. US Presidents* and First Ladies

10. Those living in Roman Britain/Pompeii

Do we have any interests in common? If so, who? If not, who do you enjoy reading/learning about?

*Legitimate presidents

  1. Roman Britain is a fascinating idea for me. And the medieval as well as Anglo- Saxon periods. I'm always fascinated especially by the conflict or transition between the old ways and the advent of Christianity in those areas- that's always been a favorite of mine!

    1. The Tudors used to be my favorite until I started learning about the Plantagenets. Now they're tied for my fave dysfunctional families, haha

    1. He was only the greatest knight who ever lived! He served the first five Plantagenet kings (Henry II, Henry the Young King, Richard, John, and Henry III), protected Eleanor, battled Richard during the rebellion, went on Crusade...he was very busy.

  4. I'm not sure who William the Marshal is, but sign me up for the other ones! I love history and find those characters fascinating.

    1. Marshal was a knight who served the first five Plantagenet kings - Henry II, Henry the Young King, Richard, John, and Henry III. He was pretty much the greatest knight who ever lived.

  5. The Tudors fascinate me especially Henry VIII and his wives and those prominant at his Court. I love fiction and non fiction about that and the War of the Roses period. I read some books about US Presidents and Scottish Kings and Queens. I'd like to have more time for history but not until my TBR is under control again!

  6. I’m obsessed with anything Tudor. They are so much fun, gruesome and awful people but so much fun. Great choices!

    1. Thank you! The Tudors were my most favorite family for a long time, until I discovered the Plantagenets. They're both so completely fascinating, I love them!

    1. I loved her book! It is on my to-review list, because I have such a back-log. I made it a goal to try and read about a book about each president but I am not too successful so far. Hopefully I can get a better handle on it soon.

  8. I had a long bit of reading about the Tudors. As you know, I am on a US President kick now, because reading those biographies has given me so much understanding about how American politics works. Not that I admire our politics but it seems better to know about it than to be ignorant or just rant about it on Twitter, ha ha.
